Brand Your Business With Video Marketing
How many articles do you think you’ve read this week? Full articles – from start to finish. Maybe you’re a readaholic, but I know I’m not. I don’t have time for it. The only content I read from start to finish is related to my work and even then, I’m usually in a hurry. Now, let me ask you this – how many videos have you watched this week?
The answer to that question is likely higher than what you’ve read. There’s a simple reason for it – we’re a visual culture. We like images and even if a video is in fact longer than it might take to read a short article, it feels faster. We feel like we’re saving time by watching instead of reading. So, video inherently has a lot more power than the written word.
Don’t get me wrong – I love articles. They’re great for marketing, for sharing information, for blogging. But, videos have this power about them that transcends all that. And if you’re trying to brand yourself, there is no better tool with which to do it.
Getting Your Face Out There
One of the first things you will see on my websites is a picture of me. That’s important – it’s part of my brand. I’m not just selling information, I’m selling myself as an expert with that information. Video has been a tremendous tool in letting me showcase my expertise in an interactive setting that people are much more likely to remember. How does it work? Here are some quick tips:
• Show a Lifestyle Others will Envy
• Become Recognizable
• Develop a Rapport for Helping Others with Information
• Be Entertaining and Engaging
• Keep it Short and to the Point
• Have Fun!
These things, among so many others are what allow you to truly take advantage of the format. Can you see now why video branding can be so much more powerful than articles? Just consider the difference between a squeeze page on which you have a single video and an email signup box and one on which you have a 600 word article. Your video plays automatically and lasts for 2 minutes. You can introduce yourself, show the reader exactly what they’ll gain, and then remind them to sign up.
With an article, there is so much more work to be done and even if you do it perfectly, the visitor needs to read the entire thing. If they don’t, you lose a prospect. Plus, they never really get to meet you. Putting a face behind the words in a huge part of effective marketing and one of the reasons why so many online marketers blow it – they can’t connect.
I could go on for pages about why videos are so great (wouldn’t that be ironic?), but I won’t. Just remember; images have power. They capture, they elicit a response and they stick in your viewers’ minds. Use them properly and your brand will spread like wildfire.
